The Planet Mars Near Earth Email is a Hoax

I’m sure you guys are as disappointed as I am. I said in my previous post Planet Mars Near Earth August 2009 how excited I am to this once in a lifetime opportunity to have a seemingly close-up view of the so-called “The Red Planet”.

However, I stumbled upon a post on Google which says that the email circulating about planet Mars at closest distance with Earth this August 2009 is just a hoax.

According to the post Email Hoax – Planet Mars at closest distance to earth,

The August 4, 2007 daily newsletter from SpaceWeather(dot)com warns of the continued circulation of a hoax from 2003 claiming that the Earth is nearing it’s closest approach to Mars ever. While true in 2003, the claims were unfounded and annually in August the email hoax resurfaces.
QUOTE: BEWARE THE MARS HOAX: It’s August, which means it’s time for the annual Mars Hoax. An email is going around claiming that Mars will approach Earth on August 27th; the encounter will be so close, the email states, that Mars will rival the full Moon in size and brightness. (Imagine the tides!) Don’t believe it.

I was honestly disappointed with this news. And despite the fact that there are a lot of news in the net confirming that this isn’t really true and others telling that this so-called Mars Close to Earth phenomenon is really true, I’d prefer to believe that this really is true.

Anyway, I guess we just have to wait until August 27, and see for ourselves. But this isn’t an issue whether what side was able to predict correctly, right? Whether or not Mars would really come near Earth this August, what matters more for me is that being able to see it personally. LOL. Gulo ko noh? haha.

So to everyone waiting for more updates about this issue, hold on as I’ll give you guys weekly updates about this planet Mars near Earth phenomenon this August. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, people!

You’ve got the strangest kind of logic! what matters more to you is to be able to personally look at something that will never happen? Don’t you care at all about the truth?

“But this isn’t an issue whether what side was able to predict correctly, right? ”

The “other side” is not predicting anything, they’re just repackaging an old error of interpretation of an event that dates back to August 17 2003. So, yes, it is exactly the issue, you can either use scientific tools to predict the events accurately, or you can repeat everything you see on the internet without checking and look like a fool.

Have fun looking at nothing on the 27th.
