AKA – Set to Raise the Bar for Netizens

An online company Saklolo(dot)net is set to raise the bar for the Philippine internet-landia with the release of its newest service, the AKA Mobile Directory.
AKA currently has four main features:
1. Search Engine
2. Messaging
3. Mini-Blogs
4. Merchant Applications
As a Search Engine
AKA is primarily an SMS search engine. It allows any registered
mobile phone user to “find and be found”, in a directory that can be searched
anytime via SMS or the web. With its search engine, you can find your friends, your relatives and even your favorite store’s location.
Messaging Service
If, for example, you were able to find your friend, the next step to do is to contact that someone. With AKA, you can send that friend of yours an instant private message, and there you can talk.
Its Mini-Blogs
As a registered AKA user, one can also do his blogging activities via mobile phone or using the web. This feature is really good for those bloggers who are always on the go.
Merchant Applications
Perhaps, this is the most interesting feature AKA has for merchants out there. The AKA site can also serve as a platform for merchants of any size to connect and interact with their customers. As a registered AKA merchant, one can also run an SMS-based promo to be participated by their network’s register AKA mobile and web users.
The list below shows some of the many advantages of this merchant applications feature to both merchants and their customers:
- Celebrity Announcements
- Favorite Blogger / Columnist
- Brand Announcements
- Establishments / Stores
- Restaurants (latest packages/menu offering, promos)
- Bars (upcoming events, in-party updates on what’s happening)
- Retail store (sale / promo announcements)
- Public Service Announcement board, e.g.
- DoH (latest on H1N1, latest hot spots for possible dengue
Now, let me show you how to actually do this.
Say for example, I want to buy cheap CDs in bulk from CD-R King but I don’t know where the store is located.
I will just type CD R King Davao in the form and press GO. Then a page will open that will show the results for that query. In this case, it showed the 6 branches of CD R King in Davao. Then, I clicked CD R King SM Davao and I was redirected to the CD R King SM Davao’s mini-site. In their mini-site, I was able to know the exact address of their store, its contact number and the time the store is open.
See? It’s very easy.
Although AKA is still in its BETA stage, more and more Filipino netizens are using this as this makes life more convenient BOTH for the merchants and the prospective customers.
My fearless forecast? Sooner or later, this will surely be one of the hottest trends once it will pass its beta test. And definitely, AKA being the first mobile directory in the Philippines, it will give Filipinos and other online users a new breath of microblogging, and will innovate the search engine industry.

@Faust,
I think pwede konti, but not really alike.
As mentioned in the post, AKA is more of a mobile search engine directory and also works for the interaction of both merchants and consumers.
