The ADDU College Days Event Was BORING

Posted on 23. Feb, 2009 by Bunsoi in Campus Life, Teen Random Thoughts

UPDATE: I dont wan’t to be very bias with this post, and so I’ll be sharing a link that will show you the video made by CrisWorks Multimedia entitled “College Days Video” embedded on the Awitenista Official Website.

Ok. I don’t think I have to clear my title. I have to say that the College Days event celebrated by our school Ateneo de Davao is really boring. On the first day of the week, I already felt boredom. But I told myself,

” Hey, it’s just the first day. I’ll just wait what happens in the next few days.”

And so I waited. But the boredom seems to not end. I told myself again:

“I remember my FYDP Guide Mam Oliver told me that an event is boring if you yourself is boring.”

And so, I tried my best to watch and attend every activity associated with the College Days event there is. Now, allow me to explain why I concluded it as boring.

Feb 16, 2009 Monday: Opening of Club Fair and Faculty Exhibition Games

I was in the opening of club fair and it didn’t fair much. Only the organization or club’s officer, members were there. Save for some who also has their moderators as well, haha. But the fair wasn’t really successful in getting the attention of the crowd.

Feb 17, 2009 Tuesday: Opening of First Year Course Fair

I wasn’t really able to attend the opening. But I was there on a Wednesday and that was only because the venue of our class on FYDP that time was ALSO the same place where the First Year Course Fair is being held. As expected, I was able to roam around the so-called booths of each course. But I was able to quote one classmate of mine who said:

“Nag course fair pa daw sila nga pahumanay naman intawun ang klase. Unsa ni siya, pangwarta tactic napud sa ADDU para sa additional profit sa mga mag shift?”

The quote above is actually hilarious. He has a point, hasn’t he? I can’t translate it in English. Tingin ko naman walang magkakainteres na foreigner magbasa nitong article na ito kundi mga Pilipino lang din naman, hehe.

Feb 18, 2009 Wednesday: FirstYear SpeechFest Competition and Inter school Cheerdance Competition

I was able to watch the First Year SpeechFest Competition and I would have to say, that *nilangaw* ito. Why? If I’m not mistaken, there were only two divisions who participated in the said competition.

And in one category, there was even ONE ENTRY alone. I forgot the name of the category, but it was the representative of the BS Accountancy division who participated. So obviously, she was the one who eventually won the category afterall there’s no one to compete with.

Advice to the organizers for next year’s SpeechFest: Do marketing! I don’t mean literally marketing. What I mean is that MORE news all throughout the campus! So that Atenistas WOULD KNOW that there is such event. My classmate even asked me,

“Meron palang SpeechFest Competition, Pat?”

I was disappointed with the turnout of the event. Imagine, seeing only 20-30 people in the Mini Aud? And almost 50 percent of it *10-15* already includes the 3 judges, the 2 hosts, and the contestant themselves!.

And before I forget, the hosts ARE EQUALLY BORING! The small and fat man was trying hard doing the hosting stuff, and the second man was just oh-so boring. I hope the people behind it did an extra effort finding the right host for the event.

Now, I want to address this message for our First Year representative Mau and Ruzz,

PLEASE DO YOUR JOB WELL. People I know and I, can’t really feel the job you’re SUPPOSED to be doing. Though I understand that you also have to attend to your academic needs, but *uck, you’re a student leader, right? So, you should know how to balance the two?

We’ve voted you because we THOUGHT you’re a good choice. A good choice that will make our first year life enjoyable. Now, please don’t answer me “kaw kaya sa pwesto ko? kahirap kaya”. Coz if you would, then I would answer you, kaya nga ako hindi tumakbo diba kasi hindi ko kaya? Ikaw na tumakbo at nanalo, so I assume na KAKAYANIN MO ANG MGA DEMANDS NG POSISYON MO, right? Logic my friend.

I understand that it’s not your sole responsibility of taking care about the entire event. But I do hope that you were able to do your job well. And that is, for one, letting the entire studentry know that there’s such event existing. I just hope I didn’t expected too much of you and the committee.

Cheerdance was just okay. But in behalf of the crowd I was with, the ADDU team was not that exemplary. In fact, I’d rather give my *claps* for the DMMA Team. They were even better than the host school.

Feb 19, 2009 Thursday: Holy Eucharist Mass and Araw ng mga Gabay

Ok. Nothing really significant to say here. It’s Teacher’s Day. And the Holy Eucharist Mass is supposed to be a bit boring, isn’t it? No offense meant.

Feb 20, 2009 Friday: Utakan 2009 and Samahan Awards

Err. Honestly, I wasn’t able to attend this event, haha.

FEB 21, 2009 SATURDAY: AWITENISTA 2009awitenista-2009

Ok. Me bias dito. Ito lang ang naka all caps lock, haha. Ito lang kasi ang masaya na event, sorry.

I dont wan’t to give any deep comments on the Awitenista 2009 event since I believe, this is the LONE EVENT that I wouldn’t consider as boring.

However, I protest for the result of the Jam Atenista Category. My bet was the second entry. *Sorry, I forgot their band name.* But the lyrics of their song emphasizes what Ateneans really are.

And before I forget, Judge Number 3 was JUST TEXTING about 50 percent of the duration of the entire show. If he was just listening to the music:

“Sir, it’s not how the rhythm goes with our eardrums. It’s how well the song was composed based on its LYRICS, SIR.”

Anyways, here’s the result of the Awitenista 2009 and some pics courtesy of Awitenista Official Website and credits also goes to Cris Francia of CrisWorks MultiMedia. I hope I was able to do the citations well. I’m not really good at this stuff.

awitenista-winners

JUST TO MAKE MYSELF CLEAR

I didn’t posted this to negate the ADDU admin, the studentry or the committee who took charge of this event. I hope Atenistas wouldn’t get mad at me for writing this. This is just my opinion being a college freshman expecting my first College Days experience to be great, but it wasn’t. :-(

Do you think I’m wrong? Then, comment now and let me know why the ADDU College Days wasn’t really boring at all. I’ll be pleased to read your comment/s. Thanks.

    @Jenny,
Yes, it’s so damn boring. Dami mang events, “labad” lang gud.
Yeah, we were never forced naman talaga. We were just told na maka-konsensiya kung hindi kami mag enjoy sa college days namin.. “assuming” enjoyable talaga ang college days event n yun db?
Na-curious tuloy ako, what pangwartahay tactic meron ang SPC?

err. like we have to pay 50 php for a half day absent during school activity and 100php for a whole day absent plus canned goods. hahaa image my cm8 was absent for 6 days. and she had to pay 600 plus canned goods, rice, etc. hahahah err they say its for the needy. which i half heartedly believe its true. hahahah.. anyway it’s just my opinion. ayoko din naman siraan ng todo2 and skul ko. hahaah ang taas din kaya ng rating ng spc this last nursing board exam. :D wee.. kudos!!!

College days event wasn’t really good. Even awitenista *because of the results*. Your ryt that it should be the second entry that should have won the awitenista jam. I was really disappointed. Anyway. It should have been better that college days would be like a fiesta. No class. *etc. LOL. It should have also been better if the organizers of the event was really prepared. I guess their not.

    @XIN,
I’m glad that a fellow Atenista shares the same view with mine. And if I am to conclude the organizers’ preparation for their events, they were absolutely not prepared. Peace to the organizers.
Thanks XIN, hope to read more from you.. :-)

Hahaha… I have had my shares of the College Days in AdDU, my last was a year ago… I’m from the CS div. Most of the events didn’t come as interesting for me or for my friends so we always end up in Jacinto – Bytes playing DOTA or whatnot. Call us “pasaway”. I miss the school though…

PS: Naa pa ba si Manong Kwek-kwek sa may Claveria side sa AdDU?

    @Louver,
It’s of no doubt that you weren’t able to enjoy the activities because we’re actually sharing the same fate as far as ADDU’s activities are concerned.
As you can see Kuya Louver, I’ve received plenty of well-constructed criticisms from some Atenistas about my ADDU Tao Awards article
    http://bunsoimagazine.com/2009/03/addu-tao-awards-2009-scrutinized.html
which, I must say, SUFFERED from the audience number participation and overall impact. Parang nagiging culture na nga ata talaga ito ng ADDU.
    Re:PS:.
Naa pa may tigulang nga nagabaligya ug kwek kwek ya. But I’m not sure if we’re thinking of the same man.
    Thanks for dropping by. :-)

First of all, I must say, this is really sad, coming from an Atenista such as yourself.
You should realize that organizing an event, especially in Ateneo is not a piece of cake.
Wala kang alam kasi you weren’t a part of the organizing body. Try being a part of one bunsoi, see if you’ll still write things like this.
Its just so pathetic reading things like this.
People who don’t know a shit and they blabbering as if they know everything.

And for your information, the first TAO awards held last year was ONLY for MASSCOM students. Others didn’t know about it kasi hindi naman talaga dapat sila kasali.

And for those who are saying na kaya nilang gawin magorganize ng ganun na event, TRY IT. See if you can do it.

That event was a major achievement considering the fact na first ever (giving awards outside the Humanities Division) un ginawa ng ATENEO, and ng MINDANAO, for that matter. And the fact that ALL of the national awardees that were invited attended or sent their representatives.

    Oh well…
I do hope you WALK the TALK Mr. Bunsoi. Let’s see you do GREAT things in ADDU.
I’ll be keeping my eyes on YOU.

    @ADDU,
You know what. I don’t give a damn care kung ano ang pinagdaanan niyo para magawa ang Tao Awards. And to use the hardship that you guys wen through in the process as a reason, nakakahiya kayong tawaging Atenista.
Ganun ba yun? If you put up a production and it failed, you tell your audience, “Guys, sorry ha. We’re having technical difficulties because it is very hard to put up a production as big as this.”
I am a part of the audience or served as a spectator, it’s natural that I give my comment about the event. And I’m more particular on the outcome of the event.
I will be concerned on the backstage issues, if and only if I am a sociologist.

boy abunda wannabe. spineless opinionated cocksucker. so you’re in atenews? big deal. most of those in atenews are screwups anyway, like their screwup paper.

had you been in atenews during Martial law i would give you props. but being in atenews now just means you suck cock

  23. OMG

    27. Jun, 2009

It’s just normal to give opinions, comments, and whatsoever about something that didn’t really get the attention of a person.

No body sucks. What happened to you guys? You don’t act like teenagers or adults or whatsoever again.

I don’t give a damn side here, but it’s just getting into my nerve that “FREEDOM of EXPRESSION” is being destroyed.

The way you do it guys seems that you’re telling someone to stop giving opinions, comments.

Imagine our radio commentators. Do they know actually what they’re talking about? I mean, specifically.

They’re just giving damn opinions. It’s good. It actually helps.

    Hope things won’t get worse.

    Godbless All.
