Takipsilim of ABS-CBN: The Twilight Philippine Version?

Twilight fans in the Philippines: Rejoice — or not? Philippines’ biggest broadcasting corporation ABS-CBN is set to produce a local TV series of the hit movie Twilight based from Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Book Series.
The tentative title of the local series is Takipsilim. I think its the Filipino translation for Twilight, haha. Im not really sure. I myself was shocked when the news first broke out from ABS-CBN online arm ABS-CBNNews.Com. In fact, Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are said to play the roles of the vampire Edward Cullen and Isabella Swan. A random fan of Twilight photoshopped the Twilight poster. See the image after the jump. ABS-CBN Chief Executive Officer Gabby Lopez was said to have bought the franchise from the foreign franchise owner and is planned to be serialized on television.
Filipino Twilight fans feedbacks are divided: Some were happy, but some were also disapppointed. Majority of those that were happy are the Rayver Cruz-Shaina Magdayao tandem loyalistas. While those that were unhappy about this are those that underestimates ABS-CBN’s capacity to produce a big TV series like Twilight. And A LOT OF foreign Twilight fans are totally grossed out in this news, read their comments on Perez Hilton’s entry. This news is totally big that it even landed on Perez Hilton’s Blog — Hollywood’s most hated and popular website.
Well, we can’t deny the fact that Twilight was such a big hit movie, though we still can’t compare it to the Harry Potter series — that it became a source for bandwagon among the hardcore fans and the so-called fans. Antagonists on this issue dont fret. Some said that the news was not at all true and that it was misinterpreted. What Lopez bought was ONLY the franchise of showing the Twilight movie in the Philippines in ABS-CBN. I dont know if this news is a hoax or not.
A random person from Pinoy Exchange gave a comment about this news. And I really liked the way he articulated his idea. Kuhang-kuha ung sa akin. The commenter’s name is 15805.
i’m not in favor of the remake of Twilight
but please, wag naman masyadong sambahin ng twilight -edward cullen fanatics ang libro. di siya kagalingan ng harry potter or lord of the rings. it was made for the screaming pre-teens-teens fan girls, its too cheesy – yes! parang asian series or pinoy teleseryes na ginawang hollywood movie.ang problema kasi
masyadong maraming biglang fan ng book at nagagalit dahil kay edward cullen. sinasamba yung movie etc.

hindi kasing galing ni JK Rowling si Meyer para ako mabilib
hindi siya si Tolkien para masabing masterpiece.

I’m not really sure din Jen. Some sources on the intenret said it was just a hoax. A small news CREATED by some desperate Rayver-Shaina loyalistas and it eventually turned out to be a huge hit on the blogosphere. Huge enough to reach the frontpages of Perez Hilton’s blog, haha.
Yeah, the photoshopped picture was done great. But this reminds me of something: Banner ko? haha.

“ABS-CBN has bought the rights to make a tv version of the hit vampire novel “Twilight”, ABS-CBN’s CEO, Euegenio Lopez III signed a contract last December 6, 2008 for the tv adaptation of Twilight, the rights cost a more than a million dollars, the taping is set to start next year by February in Baguio, Tagaytay, Bukidnon and some parts will tape outside the country. And it will be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, the tv adaptation will focus with the love story between Edward and Bella, this is much more than a drama, romance, but also fantasy.”

Yeah, it is.
Our special effects I think are improving naman eh. And I have to give GMA 7 the credits for good visual effects.
I dont know with ABS. They have always produced a mediocre fantasy series. I wont name na lang those series kasi this is not an issue naman of rival networks’ capabilities eh.
Good luck to ABS if ever this project will really push through.

actually hindi ako talaga fan ng twilight.
hindi naman sa napapangitan or hindi ko type ang book.
hindi ko rin kasi natapos basahin ang book….(so sad):))
and marami kasi akong naririnig na feedbacks galing sa mga nakabasa na (lalo na sa roommate ko na june08 plng nagbasa ng twilight…. and nagpareserve pa xa para dun sa release ng 4th book, so she already finished the book)
and madalas sabi ng iba na habang tumatagal, nagiging “boring” or hindi na singganda ng “twilight”.
so i still don’t have plans na magbasa ulit.

I’m also an ABS-CBN viewer or more appropriately called as a “Kapamilya”.
I have always supported ABS with all of the issues and intrigues that were thrown upon them. But this recent one I cannot aloow to pass without me criticizing my favorite station.
I have watched Entertainment Live, and informations about it was also replayed on The Buzz earlier. ABS-CBN has released a press statement denying reports of the alleged local adaptation of Twilight.
With that being said, I guess it is VERY EASY to say that ABS’ online arm, the abscbnNEWS.com is a liar! A big fat liar!
They may make people (who doesnt have enough knowledge on how to figure things out with our technology today) but they can never trick Google or its bots, and so are us. This makes us realize how powerful Google is. They may delete the post containing the controversial articel, but its permalink still resides on the Google search engine result pages.
And now they’re blaming Perez Hilton blogsite as the source and another one writer from Yehey site?
To ABS-CBN:
We’re now starting to doubt on your so-called reliability and integrity on news and informations we get from you guys.
And you can’t blame us, perhaps your online arm can do the explanation? *peace*

Yeah. Shaina said in an interview with ELive that the photo was indeed photoshopped, and that the image used was the one she sent to the press for her debut a year ago.
And yeah, kaya nga nobody’s commenting na maxado dito kasi ABS-CBN later revealed that this wasn’t true, and they’ve denied that the news first broke out from their online site itself.
Dun ako mejo nainis with ABS, if you can read my past comment sa taas. Hindi nakalusot ang abs-cbnNEWS.com kay Master Google and sa Google Search, jeje. Report of that project is still at Google’s database. And that is one thing, the firm cannot really deny.
No problem, hehe. I’m not affected whether this project will push through or not. I’m neither a fan of Shaina nor Rayver, but of course, with respect to ABS, I AM
But now.. one thing is clear.. this is just a hoax.

I beg to disagreee with that Krizelle.
I believe JK is far better than Meyer in a sense that JK Rowling knows how to make things complex but is able to deliver it in a very logical, sensible and neat manner.

IT IS THE CHEESIEST MOVIE I’VE EVER WATCHED! halatang-halata na babae tlga ang author dahil punong-puno nga ka-CORNYHAN!! honestly, i just watched the movie for the sake of robert pattinson since i am a big fan of him since i saw him in harry potter and the goblet of fire! and i’d say the HARRY POTTER IS STILL THE BEST!

Hey, I realized one thing: Hindi pwedeng i compare ang HP sa Twilight. Kasi, hindi naman talaga sila magka level in the first place? Yun lang yun eh! haha. Db?
About the visual effects naman, siguro hindi lang talaga forte ng ABS ang bonggang bonggang pag gastos sa mga VFX nila. Sa drama naman kasi talaga sila magaling, so better focus nalang siguro sa mga yun.

…is this for real?..so..puro na lang Filipino version ng mga foreign TV shows and movies ang kayang i-offer satin ng mga TV Networks????? Talagang bang ang capacity lang ng mga writers natin ay pang-remake or panggagaya???? Filipinos are so creative…bakit sinasayang ang mga creative juices…can’t we create our own stories?…by that i mean original…from the concept to the scirpt and flow of story… i am terribly disappointed…i know maraming magagalit sa comment ko but really I was shocked….I never thought nor imagined that one day I will read a news as shocking as this….God!!!

I’m really a fan of Twilight book…but not in the movie…cuz the movie really sucks…and i i totally disagree with the Filipino version Twilight the Takipsalim thinggy…cuz if the real movie of twilight really sucks …how much more the Filipino.?. and i don’t think ryvr and shaina can handle their roles of being Edward Cullen and Belle Swan…and GOD!! (I HOPE THIS ISN’T FOR REAL)
