End Poverty – Blog Action Day Advocacy

This blog is a volunteer for the Blog Action Day campaign of BlogActionDay site. As I’ve promised before updating this blog as a Version 2.0 blog, I’ll try my best to supplement your reading with some social issues so that we can really show the world that teenagers nowadays are willing to lend an ear on global social issues.
One of the few things that people doesn’t know about me is that I’m very active in different advocacies on the world wide web. One of which is what this article is all about, POVERTY.

I know this action of mine is not enough to totally eradicate poverty. But I know that in my own little way, I can still be of great help to the organization and the people in the Philippines, and perhaps around the world thru increasing awareness of this worldwide problem.
To diminish poverty in this world, specifically in the third-world countries where this problem is mostly felt is one of the Millenium Development Goals of the United Nations. But one official in the Philippines was quoted saying that this problem may not be solved by the time the UN’s ultimatum expires, which is on 2015. It’s not even close to half in solving the problem.
One of the reasons why I supported this campaign is for public awareness. For the reading public to know that while they’re reading this, there are millions of Filipinos and other races around the world whose stomach are empty and whose brains are waiting and hoping for their next meal to come.
According to the International Monetary Fund website, poverty is more widespread in the Philippines that in neighboring ASEAN countries. Though the poverty rate in the Philippines is slow, it is the slowest among neighboring countries. I won’t be emphasizing why our country’s like this, afterall this article is about increasing public awareness on that matter.
I’m hoping that this article would reach the eyes of those people who has an above-sufficient wealth and has a heart that’s kind enough to share his/her fortune with people who’s less-fortunate. I don’t have huge resources to donate with those in need, but with this simple act of publishing this article, I know I’m helping the organization, victims of poverty to be specific, and the world as a whole to reach the public and increase awareness on this global problem.
