Well anyways, I’ve been really bust at school, I’m still trying to cope with the responsibilities of being a fresh college student. Well, anyways let me give you an assessment of my first month being a college freshman!
1. ADDU- A completely new and diverse environment for me. High-end facilities, is the best adjective for Ateneo. What makes it very different is that I believe Ateneo is the only school in this region which has an elevator – o diba? Ignorante mode. Walang ganito sa City High, ahehe– We’ve been told that our batch is very lucky since the Ateneo is celebrating its 60 years of Jesuit education existence which means an extravagant celebration which is about to kick off in our Fiesta by mid August. I’ve attended the Opening Ceremony of the Palarong Atenista ‘08. It was the very first time that they held it at night. And we’ve ended up dancing for the disco part until 10pm. It was really fun!
2. Vice-President of my Class – Actually, I didnt want to be an officer but my new found friends nominated me. I was chosen by our First Year Development Program (FYDP) Guide to preside the election. Honestly, I hesitated at first to be elected as the president. Because admit it or not, being the presiding officer would actually end up as the Class President, right? And I know it will be an additional responsibility for me so I turned the presidency nomination down. But, I’m still happy coz they elected me as the Vice President. And then our President and I were invited to a leadership forum held at our Mini Audi, and man, foods were like overflowing! haha..
3. Class Schedule- Classes were quite toxic. My class finished at 8:00pm on MWF sked and 7:30 on a TTH sked. That is really a mediocre schedule for a first year like me. Those who failed the Math Diagnostic Test has better scheds than us who passed the MDT. I hope I also failed the exam so as to have a good schedule. But that would mean additional expense though since it will entail additional number of units. Some classes were boring and some were interesting. Current faves? Socio, FYDP, Accounting and NS2.
4. Prelim Exams – We’ve actually had our Prelim Exam the other week. Some subjects were just so-so. For our major Acctg prelim, I finished the exam with 10 minutes left. My bad is that I passed it immediately and was not able to check my answers. I got the correct balance but I used the wrong accounts. Understood what I said? Well, if you have an idea about Accounting or if you’re an Accounting student like me, you’ll understand that the balance I’m referring to is that of the worksheets, journal, T-Accounts and the stupid ledger, hmpf. It’s worth 202 items and I got 118 points. It was just enough to get a 95 point something percentage.
Time is fast approaching. On Monday will be our first midterm quiz for Accounting, then before we know it, by second week of August is our MidTerm exam. So I’ll be very busy by then. Perhaps my next post will be on.. umm. I don’t know yet. But I’ll try my best to be able to post a new one next week.
My much-followed Tips for College Freshman Survival will have a Part 3. And it’ll be better since I’ll test if those that can be found on the internet really works in real time. Please stay tune.
I’m interested on your evaluation of your first year college life. Or maybe in school, whether grade school or high school. So please comment to this post and tell me your experiences. I’ll be happy to read those. Thanks!
